The Northwoods Chronicles: Chapter 4

Norwood Pines Supper Club, Minocqua, WI

Norwood Pines Supper Club
The parking lot is FULL of humongous pine trees that have an incredible scent and almost sing in the breeze!! The HUGE pines are magnificent!

Norwood Pines Supper Club in Minocqua, WI is definitely in our top 5 favorite places to eat in ALL of Wisconsin. The establishment provides a soothing effect on my soul. The atmosphere can only be described as sheer relaxation. I get relaxed from the moment I turn off the highway to pull into their parking lot. Their parking lot is surrounded by massive pine trees. You are greeted by their sign with a lamp post that tells you whether or not they are open. If the light is on they are open and vice versa. You can see their hours here. It would be wise to either make a reservation or get there early because it gets very busy very fast.

The drive into Norwood Pines

We have been coming to the Norwood Pines Supper Club for years. Our first trip was actually on our honeymoon. My parents happened to be in the Minocqua area to see the color that fall and decided to take us there for an ice cream drink. We sat at the bar and just enjoyed each others company. It was a great night. Their ice cream drinks are TO DIE FOR! They actually are so overflowing they reach at least 6″ high above the glass. That is 100% NOT an exaggeration. This past month when we were there I was too full to order one or I would have snapped a pic for you guys. You will just have to go and check it out yourself.

Dinner on the Porch

The porch
This is one of my favorite views in the world. It is a place we don’t get to go often but enjoy more and more each time we do. It has become a tradition and have an overwhelming sense of family. We have brought all our closest friends and family members here to enjoy this view!

We always request to eat on the porch at Norwood Pines Supper Club. It is by far the best ambience for a meal I can think of. We have been there in winter, over the holidays, in spring, in fall, and even during a terrible thunderstorm in summer. We have taken friends and family alike with us. Each time it has been an unique and great experience. It is lit beautifully and rain or shine, the view is just plain relaxing. The tall ceiling, screened in porch, and gorgeous views are just an experience. It is so peaceful you kinda forget about life for that few hours, which isn’t easy for me. Letting everything go to just enjoy each other’s company can be really hard to do. Not here!

Table on the porch
This is typically our table. I can’t begin to tell you the memories we have sitting right here!

When the summer streams in through the screen’s I feel the weight lift from my shoulders and that’s even before I order a glass of wine. Dinner at a supper club is by far my favorite. I get that from my dad. He is the super club King. I swear he knows about every one in the state. He also knows what is the best dish at each and what time of day you will have the best service. Of course having him and my mom with us is the best but H and I make due with out them when we have too.

The sunshine gives the wood an amazing smell as you sit and enjoy each others company and a great meal!

Norwood Pines Drinks

Old fashioned in the sunlight
My favorite cocktail, the Old Fashioned……mine is Jack Daniels and sour soda with olives = Wisconsin Perfection!

Their cocktails are amazing! I’m pretty traditional and love an old fashioned. In the heat of a really intense summer day I also will have a gin and tonic also with lots of fresh lime, although the traditional Wisconsin cocktail is my favorite. I do also LOVE a good chardonnay. Their old fashioned’s taste excellent regardless of alcohol choice. Norwood Pines also features several beers from a local brewery, Rocky Reef, on tap.

Norwood Pines Food

The food at Norwood Pines Supper Club is amazing. We tried their breaded mushroom appetizer for the first time last month. Breaded mushrooms are my favorite appetizer and Norwood Pines’ were some of the best I have every had. I usually get shrimp but this time we both had the prime rib It felt like the food to order since it was Saturday night. It was amazing! I am not a huge steak girl but my husband also loves their ribeyes.

You can see the menu here. They have a gorgeous leather bound menu typically but unfortunatley because of Covid they aren’t using them. I definitely miss them. They always bring a cute little basket of appetizers to your table as you enjoy the view and a cocktail while waiting on dinner. It always includes cheeses, crackers, cranberry relish, and a seasonal pasta salad. It’s a nice little extra that just the Pines does. They also always bring each table out a loaf of fresh baked bread.

Norwood Pines Sign
They added a new sign to the front door this year. I do recommend calling ahead for a reservation, although waiting at the bar and enjoying the fireplace is also an awesome choice!

A trip to the Northwoods is just not the same for us without a trip to the Pines. We love to eat, drink, and relax after a long drive, a long hike, or just a long day in the sunshine on the water. There is no other place that I would rather be than here with my family enjoying the view and food. If you haven’t had the chance to have dinner here, it’s worth the trip! You won’t be disappointed and you might not ever want to ever leave! I PROMISE!!
