Spring is officially here!

Hwy K near Burndt Bridge Tavern. This is one of our favorite drives north of Eagle River, WI! Incredible sunsets!

Spring is here❤️!

It’s official. Spring is here. It feels like I have been waiting decades for it to arrive. This past winter has been tough. So much going on. But it’s here! And it feels incredible.

Maybe it’s all in my head, I’m pretty sure it’s not, but it feels like my entire perception on life has changed.

This is a secret little spot we enjoy each season off of Hwy K North of Sayner, WI. It’s so peaceful! Enjoy the sounds of the river!

Winter can feel like darkness daily. The cold, the dreary lack of color, short days, no sunshine, the list is endless. Don’t get me wrong I do like the change of season’s, but after about February 16th, I’m done with winter.

I crave the sunshine, and all the happiness it brings to my day. Without sunshine, and it’s warmth, I start to get really down.

The snow here is gorgeous, and I do love to hike, and be outside, but it feels like the season itself is too long.

Today the last of the snow in our front yard has melted. The grass seems to want to start to turn green, and I turned on the de-humidifier on the basement.

I feel an added moisture to the air in the house. This past Sunday I sat in the swing in the screen porch for the first time this year. It felt good. It was chilly, and I didn’t sit long, but being in the porch feels like a win.

Our tiger cat Scout, also got to bask in the glory of the sunshine on the porch. He rolled around like a crazy kitty. He had a blast.

Our trip to the forest was short but needed!

We spent the past weekend in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. It was really, REALLY needed. Being outside, in the fresh air on Saturday, was exhilarating.

The river was incredible in the sunshine.

The sun was shining super bright, the temperature reached almost 50 on the trail, and the air was so fresh, it almost took your breath away.

Hiking 🥾 the Awassa Trail system near St. Germaine!

You guys all know we love this hike. There are so many reason’s why. I was shocked to be the only ones there on Saturday. The weather was great. It was an incredible day in the forest. This trail is flat, easy to hike in winter, and the canopy is unreal. There is no reason not to go.

The forest was alive with sunshine.

I will link back to a few other posts for you to get some more information. It is fast becoming my favorite place in the the Northwoods. You can learn more here: Awassa Trail System!

After a day in the forest there is nothing I ❤️ more, than to sit by the fire with a cocktail and relax, and be thankful!

We are creatures of habit!

We love the traditions or habit. We have favorite spots and I find that they make it more comforting for me. I love revisiting a place I love. To take pictures, find solace, breath, and feel at home.

This past weekend we stayed at our favorite little resort in Eagle River, Lake Forest Resort. We like how homey it is without being a lot of work. We LIVE for the fireplace and all its warmth in winter. We also love that it’s two story. I can go to bed early, and he can stay up late. It has started to feel like home after all these years.

What does spring mean to you?

Spring is here….what are you doing to enjoy it? What does it mean to you? I am in planning mode. We have something each month to look forward too.

We are doing a new hardscape in the backyard, planning our Memorial Day party, and I’m ready to watch all the bulbs come up. I am almost ready to finalize my Easter menu, getting ready to wash windows, and finally get my KC lights installed on my Jeep.

I started putting away winter coats, hats and gloves, and it’s almost time to get out summer jackets and sandals. I changed out the table linens, and am about to put heavy down comforters away for the season.

We both work way too much. If I don’t plan it out it doesn’t get done so spring is busy here. The summer season is by far, my favorite time to spend days at the lake, and in the backyard. You will find me floating in a Northwoods lake almost every Sunday. It is by far my favorite thing to do.

Spring is here, make your list, check it off, and enjoy!

In Wisconsin we are blessed with all four seasons. It’s what makes us appreciate them when they arrive. Spring is by far the one I appreciate the most.

By April first I am longing for longer days. Yearning to smell the first cut grass of the year, and ready to take the roof off my Jeep, and feel the spring breeze in my hair.

There is so much to appreciate if you write it down…..

Work has been tough, life has been tough for all of us. The war has brought back death and destruction, at a time when the world needed healing the most. I am counting my blessings. I remind myself daily of the pro’s not the con’s. It’s how I live now. Life can be tough if you can’t find the positive. Most recently, my brother has been texting me reminders of that, and it truly has helped! Sometimes you need another person to reach out and help build you up!

Make that list now……

  1. The To DO list!
  2. List all your blessings!
  3. Plan a summer get away!
  4. A weekend hiatus in May is a MUST. I am headed to Door County with my mom for THREE entire days. I can’t wait!
  5. Plan out your summer flowers and get ready to order your mulch.
  6. Stock the freezer it’s almost time to grill.
  7. Stop complaining about gas prices and be grateful we have access to gas it can always be worse.
  8. Be a better human and do something kind for someone each day.
  9. Smile more. It makes a difference.
  10. Have family for dinner, even if it’s burgers and store bought potato salad. You never know how long you have them!

Enjoy the season everyone, get out and smell the change. You can hear the birds, see more animals, and walking in the rain is fun at ANY age ! You don’t have to be a kid to get wet! You will dry and so will your clothes! Life is simple if you make it so….how you see it is entirely up to YOU!
